Named after a community activist and preservationist who was instrumental in the movement of what would become the Weeksville Heritage Center, the launch of the Dr. Joan Maynard Lecture Series will be underwritten by the Osei Rubie Charitable Fund with a donation of $25,000. As a result of the increased programming, featuring leading scholars, more museumgoers can discover or rediscover black culture and its impact on American society.

As a Lincoln University alumnus, Osei Rubie understands the need to close the digital divide and help students become globally competitive. His namesake fund made its largest investment to-date, awarding $25,000 to Lincoln University. Over the next 10 years, a sophomore or upperclassman with financial need and at least a 2.75 GPA will be the recipient of the Osei Rubie Technology Scholarship to purchase a new Apple MacBook Pro laptop with AppleCare and software.

In anticipation of the 2019-2020 school year, the Osei Rubie Charitable Fund donated $5,000 to award six students with academic scholarships increasing the total number of recipients from 36 to 42. Grade 10 students were also provided with laptops.

The Osei Rubie Charitable Fund and National Standard Abstract invested a combined $8,000 towards the DC Initiative for youth of color to travel to Washington, DC to interact with their peers and legislators from across the nation.

From enrollment fees to new jerseys for home and away games, the Osei Rubie Charitable Fund helped alleviate the financial strain on parents with a donation of $8,000 to ensure all children regardless of income will play football.

Headquartered in Harlem, renowned as the center of black culture, The Liberian Mural Foundation is an integral part of reconnecting the past to the present and future. More than 1,200 students have learned about black history - from Juneteenth to the Civil Rights Movement and beyond - through the arts. The Osei Rubie Charitable Fund endowed the Foundation with $2,500 to share the importance of Sankofa or teaching the descendants of the African diaspora about its cultural heritage.

The Osei Rubie Charitable Fund made a contribution of $3,500 towards their 23rd Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament which helped nine students offset the incurred costs of tuition, room and board, and books during their freshman year. 

The combination of academics, the arts, and athletics has garnered overwhelming support from local families searching for wholesome recreation. Through the sponsorship of The Osei Rubie Charitable Fund at $2,500, The Struggle is Real Inc. has expanded its programming to meet growing public demand. The Winter Youth Olympics, Black History Showcase, and annual Generation 15 Day Festival continue to unify the community to achieve a common goal -  mobilizing our youth to exceed all expectations.

Over 300 young black males have successfully completed the mentorship and Rites of Passage program. One hundred percent have graduated from high school. Ninety-six percent are currently enrolled in colleges and universities nationwide.

Every week, nearly 6,000 individuals receive a nutritious 3-course hot meal. More than 300 families are fed through the food pantry monthly.

With an investment of $2,500, the Osei Rubie Charitable Fund helped the Co-op increase its food quantity and quality while advancing their efforts to promote self-sufficiency. Last year, nearly 17,000 people were served food which included fresh produce.
